Two Minds EP

Two Minds

http://music.taoyoyo.com/album/two-minds-retroyoyo-4

A version of this track appears on the Dialog> album “Music for Imaginary Movies”.
These are the parent versions I did with Alan. They came out sounding good after mastering & I talked Alan into giving them their own release. Enjoy.

Jam EP

Final release of the year. 4 studio jam sessions between me & Alan (taoyoyo).
With 2 bonus Dialog> remixes

————————————
The third and (for now) final installment of the retroyoyo series, featuring previously unreleased tracks from Alan Platten (taoyoyo) and Andy Smith (Dialog>).

The first four tracks are live jams, capturing the moment, playing around in different genres (drum and bass, techno and trance inspired).

The two bonus cuts are arranged, final mixes of ‘Ummo’ and ‘Bigger Than One’, completed by Andy at a later date.

I recently became aquianted with Animat and contributed an ambient dub style remix for this project. Also featuring remixes from Alucidnation and Input Junkie, who I’m a big fan of.

Taoyoyo- Dark Side of the Fours EP

Dark Side of the Fours

http://music.taoyoyo.com/album/dark-side-of-the-fours-ep-retroyoyo2

The ‘Dark Side of the Fours EP’ is now available as a free download.

Alan’s second release- featuring tracks we co-wrote together in 2003. I had kinda forgotten about these tracks and was pleased to re-discover them when Alan sent me the masters. I had to play out “Let me in” to close the Festinho set.

The second EP in the retroyoyo series features 3 slices of dark abstract tribal techno, the yang to the Jello EP’s yin if you like.

Mastered by Gregg at Hermetech in 2010 for your listening pleasure.
‘Diving For Pearls’ is also featured on his compilation ‘Peppermint Sine Waves V1′, released by Hermetech Mastering (See post below for more details).

We are both very happy with this EP, hope you’ll enjoy it too.

‘Peppermint Sine Waves Volume 1‘ is a free downloadable compilation from Hermetech Mastering, featuring Gregg Janman’s pick of the tracks and artists he has mastered this year.

The compilation opens with ‘Diving for Pearls’- a track I co-wrote with Alan, released under his taoyoyo alias.

The Dialog> remix of the Gel-Sol track “Cool Sweet Awesome Yay!” closes the album.
I was pleased with this liquid dub interpretation.

Gel-Sol is well worth checking out and the original track appears on his album “Unifactor” released by Upstairs recordings.

Andy Stone and I were reunited to play an A/V set in the cinema room in the Manor House. An amazingly ecletic festival requires a suitably eclectic mix.

Folk, electronica, dub, dubstep, rave – this was one crazy eclectic mutha of a festival & this mix barely scratches the surface. Dedicated to the crew and artists for putting on such amazing event.

Summer gigs

This summer has been a lot of fun gig wise. First off Ambiosonic in France. The setting is truely magical and it was great to meet up with artists I played with last year & meet some new ones. Andy Stone came over from Canada to perform visuals and despite a 24 hour delay managed to get onsite 2 hours before we were due to start! The sound system was top-notch which made all those months of prepping material worth it plus the crowd were very friendly and up for it. Seeing it go off under the stars at 1am is a memory I will treasure.

Next up Purple radio’s Warm Lager event. This was a great family day out and Sarah and kids joined us. Another wonderful setting with the DJ’s playing in a giant teepee.
The dj’s played everything from drum & bass, disco, calypso, acoustic songs plus an A/V set from Minke with some wonderfully disturbing Grindhouse visuals! Andy Stone and I performed our second A/V set of the summer. After we finished I strolled out the teepee to be greeted by the full moon rising above the site.

Finally Planet Angel’s “Chilled in a Field”. I traveled down with Input Junky. Neither of us knew what to expect, but Dom Graveson & “The Commodore” was a very affable hosts in the Chilled tent and we had a right laugh. My family & Digitonal turned up on Saturday and there were great acoustic sets from Angel Kelly and Frodo Freud. As well as our electronic sets on the Friday we somehow ended up very drunk behind the DJ booth on Saturday night. After Jon’s selection, I was too out of it to figure out the mixer and yelled out my tunes at him to play-wierdly it seemed to work- how could you not love a dodgy selection of 80′s tunes done in a gypsy jazz style! Apparently I was pole dancing around the tent- John put me to bed shortly afterwards- oooffff!

Ambiosonic 2010

This is a wonderful Ambient music event in the South of France, full of eccentric characters and one of the friendliest crews! Andy Stone & I will be performing a Dialog> A/V set. If last year was anything to go by, this should be one of the best parties of the year.
